Use a calculator to test candidate prescriptions, not to replace clinical judgment. Confirm delivered dose and adjust against the patient’s volume status, blood pressure, phosphorus, potassium, bicarbonate, symptoms, and residual kidney function.

## A Safe Workflow

1.  **Start with the patient’s modality, residual kidney function, volume needs, access, and goals.**
2.  **Use the current manufacturer tool or program calculator** to model a candidate prescription.
3.  **Reconcile the candidate with approved local policy** and enter a patient-specific signed order.
4.  **Verify delivery** with treatment logs, adequacy testing, laboratory trends, symptoms, and access performance.
5.  **Escalate contamination, suspected peritonitis, access failure, or machine safety events immediately** through the patient’s home-dialysis program rather than a web resource.
